The Seller Backed Out of The Deal
A caller had a deal — with a $50 dollar deposit — to buy a dryer. Now the seller has canceled the deal for no reason. Brian explains that the buyer could go out and find a similar dryer and — if it cost more — sue the seller for the difference. Brian notes that litigation might make this option unpleasant so it might work to point out to the seller that this is an option one could take and perhaps that would persuade the seller to come around.

A caller’s employer asked for the social security numbers of all of his dependents. Why would they need those? Prosecutor Has Offered a Deal: Is It Good Enough?
A caller’s son was charged with a felony and the prosecutor has agreed to drop the charge to a misdemeanor if her son will plead guilty. Could they try for a better deal? Brian explains that the prosecutor’s discretion is so broad that you cannot necessarily force them to do anything. This offer sounds good, and they will have to weigh this offer as it stands. Take it, or leave it and go to trial (risking the felony conviction).
